Combatting “poverty of relationships” by strengthening each child’s Social Triangle.
Our work system focuses on a triangular scheme that emphasizes the importance of 3 main institutions in a child’s development: Family, School, and Mi Club, with the child placed at the center.
How do we do this?
We work to strengthen the triangle surrounding each child to help facilitate healthy growth and development.
School Support
Work on educational reinforcement through meaningful learning and instilling the desire to learn through entertaining and innovative methods for children. Educational endeavors are supported by a wide range of international volunteers, who work at the intersection of their talents and Domingo Savio’s needs. Workshops run have focused on: Theater, Crafts, Carpentry, TV and Radio, Sports, Cooking, English, and self-reflection and self-esteem.
Family Support
Providing training to supported families to facilitate cooperation between school, families, and Domingo Savio to ensure that all parties involved work in unity during each child’s development
Mi Club
Mi Club employs both preventative and training measures for children to maximize their success. Preventative measures provide a healthy place of recreation in which the boy and girl create a sense of belonging, and prevents at-risk children from being exposed to the negative influences crime and drugs. Training measures aim to work on comprehensive life training that allow children and young people to face the vices that society offers and give them the tools necessary to flourish after finishing their time at Mi Club.
