Niños Impact: Aranza

Aranza is a 13-year-old member of Domingo Savio, and she thoroughly enjoys her time there. She feels happy, entertained, and secure, considering it her safe space where she can engage in various activities like drawing and sewing. Aranza finds joy in doing things that she cannot do at home.

She joined the club when she was 8 or 7 years old, and she has been a part of it for around 5 to 6 years. Initially, there were older kids, but now the age limit is like Amaya, who is the oldest.

One memorable experience was during an exhibition where they had to clean. They ended up having fun, sliding soap on the table like a slide, getting soaked in foam. Tía Carola granted permission with the condition that they leave everything clean.

The club offers a variety of crafts, teaching them sewing and drawing, emphasizing perfection. Aranza recalls making costumes from bags and papers for a bachata dance.

She fondly remembers learning to dance American, cowboy, and country styles, which was a lot of fun.

The club has been a source of support in every aspect of Aranza’s life, from learning multiplication to improving her English with volunteers. Her dream is to attend a university in the United States, and the club has provided her with opportunities to study English, learn division, and acquire manners.

With the help of volunteers, her English skills have significantly improved, and she excelled in mathematics after joining a workshop, raising her average from 5.4 to 6.

Aranza has undergone significant personal growth at the club, particularly in her manners and values. The club instills important values and teaches effective ways to manage anger.

Tía Carola holds a special place in Aranza’s heart as she is in charge of them. Aranza trusts her with secrets she hasn’t shared with her parents, seeking her opinion and guidance in resolving problems. Aranza has deep affection for Tía Carola.

For Aranza, Domingo Savio represents happiness. What sets the club apart from other places is that it’s not just a daycare; it forms a family with its members, providing care as if they were part of their own family.
